Ryan Austin Hagood, founder/owner and principal designer with r.a.d. Interiors, grew up in the south, between Athens, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, where he was deeply influenced by the region's rich culture, stunning architecture and strong traditional values. These formative years played a significant role in shaping his creative skills and aesthetic sensibilities.
After completing two years of education at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ryan ventured to Ohio, where he embarked on a career in visual merchandising and styling. It was during this time that Ryan developed a keen eye for detail and a profound appreciation for the transformative power of lighting in design. Eager to further his knowledge and expand his horizons, Ryan seized an opportunity to return to Atlanta as a design assistant for an area design firm. Despite being relatively new to the industry, Ryan's passion for visuals and his dedication to learning set him apart from other designers.
During more than five years, Ryan honed his skills under the mentorship of an esteemed local interior design and architecture firm, immersing himself in all aspects of the business, from sales and drafting to project management and accounting. This comprehensive training not only deepened Ryan’s understanding of the industry, but also equipped him with the skills necessary to succeed as a coveted design professional in today’s highly competitive market.
Armed with a wealth of experience, ultimately self-taught, a strong network of clients and valuable relationships with tradespeople and contractors, Ryan took a bold step and launched his own design firm in 2008. Despite starting as the sole employee, Ryan's talent and commitment quickly garnered attention, leading to the growth and success of his firm.
Today, Ryan's design philosophy is a testament to his diverse background and extensive experience. His work reflects a deep respect for tradition, a keen appreciation for aesthetics, and a commitment to creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional. On a daily basis, Ryan continues to push the boundaries of design, constantly seeking new inspirations and opportunities to innovate.
